Spare capacity

Price hours the box would otherwise sit idle without undercutting the workload that already paid for it.

Rule

If a primary workload already covers hardware amortization, the night ask's floor is power + overhead only. If the box exists only to sell on this market, keep the full amortization line.

Public off-peak asks clear 30–50% below 24/7 on-demand. That is a market observation, not a reason to go below your incremental cost.

Worked numbers

Same 2× A100 box as the capacity listing. Daytime training already covers the $1.103/h hardware line.

Add overhead before margin. A spare-capacity ask at the 24/7 floor will not fill off-peak; an ask below incremental power is a transfer to the buyer.
